John
Moreshead Awarded Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP)
April
3 , 2006, Portland, ME
- InterSpec, Inc. ("InterSpec") announced today that John
Moreshead, e-SPECS Project Manager, was recently awarded the designation
of Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) by the IEEE
Computer Society. The CSDP is the only certification for computing
professionals that carries the brand, reputation, and standards of
the IEEE Computer Society, the leading association for computing professionals.
The CSDP is awarded based upon experience, education and passage of
an examination that provides an objective measure of an individual's
broad-based knowledge and competency in software engineering.
John
Moreshead is one of more than 530 CSDPs in the world. In order to
earn this designation, John Moreshead had to comply with stringent
eligibility requirements that demonstrate that he had met certain
education and work experience qualifications including at least 9,000
hours of software engineering experience within at least six of the
eleven knowledge areas covered by the examination. Gilles Letourneau,
CTO and co-Founder of InterSpec states, "As we grow as a company it
is critical to build our development team with professional and talented
people. We're proud of John's achievements which demonstrate a significant
step in his career development and a high level of commitment to his
software engineering skills and InterSpec's development team."
CSDP
professional certification has three critical components:
- Exam-based
testing demonstrating mastery of a Body of Knowledge (BOK);
- Extensive
experience base in the performance of the work or profession being
certified; and
- Continuing
professional education, measured and relevant to the BOK.
The
IEEE Computer Society certification is the only software development
professional certification that has all of these critical support
components and carries the mark of the IEEE Computer Society, which
has been active in developing software engineering standards for more
than 20 years. Collectively, the IEEE standards make up the practice
standards for software engineers. This certification program is part
of the society's larger effort to provide education and certification
services to the software engineering community.
