News Release
InterSpec, a Web Technology Company,
Introduces
Convenient, Inexpensive On-line Spec Writing Services
PORTLAND, ME, March 20, 2000 -- InterSpec, LLC of
Portland, ME, is changing the way architectural firms prepare construction
specifications for commercial and residential projects. The company
has launched e-SPECS On-Line (http://www.e-specs.com), an
Internet-based automated specification preparation service providing
the convenience of fast, accurate and cost-effective construction
specifications.
"Our technology has transformed what had been
a locally focused industry into one that can service clients across
the country," said Michael Brennan, CEO of InterSpec, in making
the announcement today. "We can consistently beat competitive
quotes while providing complete documents with unsurpassed accuracy
and faster turnaround time."
e-SPECS application software is the only specification
management system that links an architect's CAD drawings to the
master guide specifications, a feature which eliminates the need
to mail or deliver large blueprint drawings to the spec writer.
However, CAD drawings aren't required to take advantage of e-SPECS.
The Web site's user-friendly start-up checklists and project notes
allow architects to input all necessary information at the earliest
stages of the project, before any drawings are available, and instantly
obtain an outline or preliminary specification.
InterSpec Introduces On-line Spec Writing Services
"InterSpec's service has been an enormous timesaver
in our small practice," states Stan Allen of Stan Allen Architect,
AIA, in New York. "The service is reliable, the turn-around
prompt, and the specifications clearly and accurately written. The
interface is easy to use and allows input from consultants, which
has been helpful to us working on projects in other states. I'd
recommend it without hesitation."
Once a project team enters the data, InterSpec's expert
specifiers complete the documents to meet the architectural firm's
requirements. They determine what items remain to be answered and
prepare an on-line project question-and-answer forum to be completed
by the architect. The spec writers also can provide a report of
inconsistencies and errors in drawing calloffs.
The company's proprietary interactive on-line editing
systems integrate an entire project team into the specification
development process over the Internet with secure password access.
The project team can make edits to the specs at any time with InterSpec's
e-SPECedit editor program which tracks changes, creates an
audit trail, saves all previous versions of the specs, and more.
e-SPECS can customize specification documents with
a firm's language and abbreviations, as well as create custom links
from one specification section to another, and save this information
for incorporation into subsequent project documents. Completed specification
manuals are delivered in three formats: on-line for client downloading,
printed and bound, or on CD-ROM.
Do-It-Yourself Version InterSpec also offers ezSPECS
Online (http://www.ezspecs.com), an easy do-it-yourself version
of its e-SPECS On-Line program. ezSPECS is designed for architects
who have small commercial and residential projects and want to complete
the specification documents themselves. This tool shares many of
the features of e-SPECS, yet is a simple, quick and inexpensive
way to produce a customized project manual complete with bidding
requirements, contract forms, conditions of the contract, and specifications
in the standard CSI 3-part format. ezSPECS eliminates the mundane
tasks required to fully specify a project, providing specifications
that are 80% complete. Page 3 - InterSpec Introduces On-line Spec
